  1. Hi,
has someting been changed regarding the access to /tmp folder? Everything was working for me up until 2.8.6 but after upgrade to 2.8.7 I receive the following error messafe both in gallery administration and gallery main page:
Warning: realpath(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/tmp) is not within the allowed path(s): (/www/hosting/vas-hosting.cz/ci/:/www/hosting/lebl.cz:/www/error-pages) in /www/hosting/lebl.cz/photo/iv-includes/include/getid3/getid3.php on line 22.
I am also managing the gallery on different domain but hosted by the same provider which does not have the issue.

    • I believe you got to contact your hosting support on that. They should have temp folder allowed for use by php.

We have updated getID3 library to support mp4 files better, looks like this is what causing the error. But then again I am not sure it didn’t use tmp folder before.

      • Hi Nick,

        thank you for your reply.

I have just got home and tried to play with the configuration and I was successful. The error dissaperead as soon as I changed the 22 in getid3.php from $temp_dir = realpath($temp_dir); – I had to delete the realpath function and replace it with absolute way to temp folder (as the hosting company does not want to change the settings of their open_basedir restrictions).

When investigating I have found out the issue is occuring on server running PHP Version 5.3.10-1~dotdeb.0, while the issue does not occur on different server with PHP Version 5.3.3-7+squeeze14. I have to say I am not sure whether is the issue connected to different version of PHP running on the server, I am trying to find a solution with hosting company.

Hope it helps in case someone other has similar issue :-).

  2. I already contacted them and I will try to update the getid3.php file to use proper tmp folder.

Just in case – is there any way to download version 2.8.6 that was working for me just fine?

    Can you help? Thank you

    • Hmm, not quite sure why its not working … In latest version, we recommend using MP4 format instead of FLV, because the MP4 format will also work on mobile devices. However, if you do not want to re-encode your videos, you can solve it by reverting to the previous video player.

Go to admin -> settings -> misc.video.external_player … Disable it! I think it should fix your issue …
